Snow in Lakeway! Lake Travis ISD is letting out school early 2/23 and starting late 2/24

It's SNOWING in Lakeway! Just two days ago I was at our waterfront condo for sale watching boaters enjoy the beautiful, warm weather on Lake Travis. You gotta love living in Austin!

Lake Travis ISD is releasing the middle school and high school students at 12:15 and the elementary students at 1:30. Tomorrow, February 24th, elementary schools will start at 9:45 and the middle schools and high school will start at 10:45.

The snow is beautiful, and I KNOW the LTISD students are probably pretty excited, but I do hope the sun comes back out and warms Lake Travis up for the spring! Lake Travis is full and springtime is beautiful in Austin, TX!

Lake Travis Waterfront Condos are watching the Lake Travis Lake Levels Rise!

At the Marina Village at Lakeway Model Home, we usually have a fabulous view of Lake Travis, the Lakeway Marina, and beautiful waterfront homes in our little cove of the lake, but with the drought in Texas, Lake Travis was getting pretty low and it took some imagination to see the incredible views of the lake from the balcony of the condominium. Lake Travis waterfront condos for sale are much more appealing when you can see the lake!

Today's Lake Travis water level is 645.70 feet! Hurray! Not quite to 681.00, but the water level is moving in the right direction! Lake Travis was at 629 feet at the begining of October. Today, the lake is up almost another foot since midnight! I found a great site to check the lake levels of Lake Travis. You can see the lake levels for the past several years. I'm headed to the model at Marina Village at Lakeway Condominiums again this weekend - hoping that Lake Travis keeps rising and I can once again enjoy the beautiful lake views from the balcony of our luxury waterfront condos for sale.

All great topics for sure - but have realized that I have yet to mention the Lake Travis High School State Champion Football team.

Last year I posted the schedules, links, and even did live updates of the games so you could always get the live score of the Lake Travis Football games. I came across something in the Dallas Morning News that gives me something positive to talk about. Texas home markets, for the most part, have had increases in home prices in early 2009 - even if they are small. Compared to other parts of the nation, which on average fell about 11 percent - that is a good thing!

Don’t forget, there are two yoga classes going on right now. Yoga with Tonya is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and User Friendly Yoga with Lisa is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. People often practice Yoga to overcome physical pain, stress and anxieties and develop strength flexibility and balance.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Travis and other surrounding counties from 6:00 p.m. today through 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 28. Weather-related information pertaining to possible school delays or closures will be posted here by no later than 5:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28. Additionally, as conditions warrant, information will be communicated via our local news media as well as through the District’s QuickNews electronic notification system.

The weather is warming up here in Austin, TX and it's perfect for getting outside! Lakeway has lots of things to do outside at the many parks and trails.

The Hamilton Greenbelts I & II provide several miles of wonderful trails, which wander along Hurst Creek and Yaupon Creek. It is a fabulous place for family outings, walks and jogs, a bike ride, or walking the dog (on a leash, of course).

The two main trailheads provide parking. The entrance off Lohmans Crossing Drive (across from the Justice Center) leads you through Hamilton Greenbelt I. The entrance off Palos Verdes Drive leads you through Hamilton Greenbelt II. Other access points include trailheads off Sailmaster Street, Squires Drive, and Clubhouse Drive.

Parade of Champions - Sunday, January 11th, 2:00pm

The City of Bee Cave and the Hill Country Galleria are proud to host a parade for the 2008 State Champion Lake Travis High School Cavalier Football Team, Volleyball Team and the 2008 MCA Champion LT Cheerleaders.

The Lake Travis Cavaliers defeated the Longview Lobos 48-23 on December 20, 2008 to claim a second consecutive Class 4A State football championship. The Lady Cavs Volleyball Team advanced to the State tournament for the first time in the program's history. The Lake Travis Cheer Team won the 2008 MVC High School National Competition on December 29, 2008 in Dallas, Texas.

This old-fashioned parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Dillard's store and end on the opposite end of the Hill Country Galleria. A ceremony and celebration will follow in the amphitheater with live music following the trophy presentation.

Please park in garages as Main Street will be used for the parade.

Championship merchandise is available through Team Spirit, Hill Country Galleria, with proceeds benefiting the Lake Travis Football Booster Club.

The Nation's Housing: Long-Term Numbers Tell a Different Story

Things are rough. You can't help but hear about it, well...everywhere. But, I thought I'd buck the trend and give you some pretty good news.

The most recent federal statistics in many markets are showing patterns that you may not have heard much about. The majority of markets still show net cumulative value growth over the last 60 months. The Federal Housing finance Agency released a survey on Nov. 25th revealing that 273 out of 292 metro markets showed positive net home values over the last 5 years. Austin, Texas, for example, saw average housing prices gain by 5.6 percent during the last 12 months and by a cumulative 35.3 percent since the third quarter of 2003. Kenneth Harvey states,

"Unlike stocks, where your asset values can go from peak to zero in a matter of weeks, house values tend
to be far slower moving, and can be more durable over extended periods. Buy a house and hold on to it for
five to 10 years in all but the most severely depressed local economies, and you're likely to see positive
growth in its value, even if a rough patch of price deflation intervenes."
