These free performances at the Lakeway Activity Center on Thursdays from noon to 1:00pm.

Clay Fun for Kids
February 7 from 1:00pm-3:00pm: for kids 7 to 13 years of age. Why not drop off the kids and take a late Saturday lunch? Silk Flower Workshop and Craft Art with Colored Bead Workshop
If you missed this last class with Vicki Bate, she will have her Silk Flower workshop and her Craft Art with colored Bead Workshop in February. Both of these classes provide step by step instruction to make unique hand crafted items. The Silk Flower Design class is on three Thursdays beginning February 19 and a will leave with a variety of colors and types of flowers. The Bead workshop is on Mondays beginning February 23 and teach skills to make decorative crosses, baskets and other items. Beginners and repeaters are welcome.
Weight Loss Seminar
February 19 from 6:30pm-7:30pm: Find out why dieting and exercising has not been working and what you can do to start losing weight now. Learn how hormones can affect sleep, carvings and fat burning.
Saturday February 28 from 9am-12:30pm: This class is provided free by the Hudson Bend Fire and Rescue program (workbook is $20) and sponsored by the City of Lakeway-Activity Center. You never know when you may need the skills and you want to know them before an emergency. Be proactive and get refreshed on the current CPR techniques.

creative series for kids 2-4 years old (with parent or guardian) classes are resuming in February. Absolute Art, Family & Friends Playtime and Lil’ Kindercooks are all back. In order to get supplies and staffing, it is required you register in advance.
Don’t forget, there are two yoga classes going on right now. Yoga with Tonya is on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and User Friendly Yoga with Lisa is on Tuesdays and Thursdays. People often practice Yoga to overcome physical pain, stress and anxieties and develop strength flexibility and balance.
Applications are being accepted for the Indoor City Wide Garage Sale on March 7th. A booth is only $25.

Hamilton Greenbelt - Things To Do Near the Marina Village Waterfront Model Home - Lakeway, Texas
The weather is warming up here in Austin, TX and it's perfect for getting outside! Lakeway has lots of things to do outside at the many parks and trails.
The Hamilton Greenbelts I & II provide several miles of wonderful trails, which wander along Hurst Creek and Yaupon Creek. It is a fabulous place for family outings, walks and jogs, a bike ride, or walking the dog (on a leash, of course).
The two main trailheads provide parking. The entrance off Lohmans Crossing Drive (across from the Justice Center) leads you through Hamilton Greenbelt I. The entrance off Palos Verdes Drive leads you through Hamilton Greenbelt II. Other access points include trailheads off Sailmaster Street, Squires Drive, and Clubhouse Drive.

Parade of Champions - Sunday, January 11th, 2:00pm
The City of Bee Cave and the Hill Country Galleria are proud to host a parade for the 2008 State Champion Lake Travis High School Cavalier Football Team, Volleyball Team and the 2008 MCA Champion LT Cheerleaders.
The Lake Travis Cavaliers defeated the Longview Lobos 48-23 on December 20, 2008 to claim a second consecutive Class 4A State football championship. The Lady Cavs Volleyball Team advanced to the State tournament for the first time in the program's history. The Lake Travis Cheer Team won the 2008 MVC High School National Competition on December 29, 2008 in Dallas, Texas.
This old-fashioned parade will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at the Dillard's store and end on the opposite end of the Hill Country Galleria. A ceremony and celebration will follow in the amphitheater with live music following the trophy presentation.
Please park in garages as Main Street will be used for the parade.
Championship merchandise is available through Team Spirit, Hill Country Galleria, with proceeds benefiting the Lake Travis Football Booster Club.

When I am at the model home at Marina Village Condominiums I come in contact with many people who are unfamiliar with Lakeway, Texas. The Nation's Housing: Long-Term Numbers Tell a Different Story
Things are rough. You can't help but hear about it, well...everywhere. But, I thought I'd buck the trend and give you some pretty good news.
The most recent federal statistics in many markets are showing patterns that you may not have heard much about. The majority of markets still show net cumulative value growth over the last 60 months. The Federal Housing finance Agency released a survey on Nov. 25th revealing that 273 out of 292 metro markets showed positive net home values over the last 5 years. Austin, Texas, for example, saw average housing prices gain by 5.6 percent during the last 12 months and by a cumulative 35.3 percent since the third quarter of 2003. Kenneth Harvey states,
"Unlike stocks, where your asset values can go from peak to zero in a matter of weeks, house values tend
to be far slower moving, and can be more durable over extended periods. Buy a house and hold on to it for
five to 10 years in all but the most severely depressed local economies, and you're likely to see positive
growth in its value, even if a rough patch of price deflation intervenes."
